These terms supersede any other issued by Colchester Carpet Cleaning.

Nothing in these terms and conditions are intended to limit a consumer’s existing legal rights.

By ordering Colchester Carpet Cleaning service by telephone, e-mail, fax or via this website the client agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.

It is accepted by the client that they have read & understood these terms & conditions in full.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by the relevant United Kingdom law and by agreeing to be bound by them the customer agrees to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts of the United Kingdom. 

Colchester Carpet Cleaning are insured by AXA UK PLC for public liability and accidental damage during works.

1, General

1,A. All fragile and breakable items must be secured or removed by the client before cleaning. Heavy items will not be moved if it is considered unsafe due to health & safety reasons. Any items that are specifically required to be moved that are deemed heavy, must be emptied first by the client before we arrive for the works to be carried out. If this has not been carried out we will clean around the furniture.

1,B. Colchester Carpet Cleaning reserves the right not to be responsible for any cleaning job not completed due to the lack of hot water or power; third party (pets included) entering or present at the client's premises during the cleaning process, wear or discolouring of fabric,/fibres or becoming more visible once soiling has been removed; failing to remove old/permanent stains that cannot be removed using standard carpet & upholstery cleaning processes, or odours re-activated from old spills/stains.

2, Equipment

2,A. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will provide all cleaning materials and equipment to perform the work specified by the client in professional manner using every care to accomplish a satisfactory level of service. The client agrees to supply all hot water and power for the works to be carried out.

3, Disclaimer

3A. Furnishings are not usually manufactured with the intention that it will need to be cleaned later. This means that there are times when furnishings can be cleaned in accordance with generally accepted industry standards, with due diligence and care, yet the appearance of such furnishings can be negatively affected. Because of the variables involved with the blends of fibres, soiling and environmental conditions that may exist, Colchester Carpet Cleaning cannot be held responsible for the following: Aging or deterioration, migrating marks from back of fabrics, unstable dyes, deteriorated foam cushions, restoring white fabrics, urine contamination, finish or glaze loss, frayed piping or welting, broken zips, breakdown of fabric backing, shrinkage, removal of stains, browning, fading, water marking, yellowing, pre-existing wear & tear, loose frames/legs, loose or missing buttons.

3B. Loss of colour, change of colour or bleeding of colours (stable dyes) should not occur during professional cleaning as long as the proper cleaning system is used. Testing & inspection procedures will identify fabrics which could develop normal colour problems during cleaning. Special care cleaning systems will ensure the maximum soil removal possible without risk of colour damage.

3C. Any additional risks or limitations will be discussed for your approval prior to any work commencing and by agreeing to such work Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not be responsible for any damage caused.

3.D. All carpet edgings and seams should be correctly fitted in normal circumstances. It is the client’s responsibility therefore to ensure this is the case prior to cleaning. If any edgings or seams are not secure Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not accept any responsibility for any loose fibres/yarns subsequently becoming caught in any machinery or being pulling out due to any existing condition or for any movement of seems due to deterioration of carpet backing/glues/adhesive tapes.

4. Shrinkage

4A. Shrinkage can occur when carpets are steam cleaned or shampooed and Colchester Carpet Cleaning accept no responsibility for any shrinkage.

4B. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will undertake to avoid any shrinkage problems by identifying susceptible fabrics or fibres. Shrinkage can occur due to poorly fitted, repaired carpets, seams or edgings. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not be responsible for any such movement or shrinkage.

4C. Deteriorated fabric or oxidized colours that are coated with heavy ‘waxy’ soil may disguise certain conditions and not become apparent until after cleaning, i.e. colour loss, sunlight “bleaching” fabric splitting or fraying and loose worn fibres. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not be held responsible for these conditions should it become apparent.

5. Machine hire

5A. Any equipment hired remains the property of Colchester Carpet Cleaning at all times. Ownership of Goods purchased transfers only when full payment is received by Colchester Carpet Cleaning.

5B. The hirer will pay for any cleaning, repair of any breakages damage upon return or collection of any machine or equipment hired.

5C. The hirer will be responsible for the full replacement costs of any machine or equipment lost, stolen or not returned to Colchester Carpet Cleaning.

5D. The hirer will provide adequate delivery and collection access. Equipment transported in the Hirer’s own vehicle is at the Hirer’s risk.

5E. The hirer accepts responsibility for equipment security until its collection by or return to Colchester Carpet Cleaning and undertakes not to sell or relinquish possession, alter, repair or modify it in any way.

5F. The hirer is responsible for the safe and correct operation of equipment (conforming to all-any relevant legislation) by competent persons not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and for its constant supervision within the range of children. The hirer will immediately notify Colchester Carpet Cleaning of any equipment breakdown or shortcoming without attempt at repair.

5G. The hirer will ensure any non-Colchester Carpet Cleaning equipment used in conjunction with or attached to equipment also conforms to safety requirements.

5H. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will comprehensively test all equipment before commencement of hire.

5I. Equipment will be inspected and tested where appropriate in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and if any hire equipment needs to be recovered from the hirer for such purposes Colchester Carpet Cleaning will substitute items of similar specification.

5J. The liability of Colchester Carpet Cleaning for claims made by the hirer does not extend to any unforeseeable financial loss caused by late or non-delivery of equipment and/or Goods, unsuitability, breakdown, stoppage or lawful repossession.

5K. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not be responsible for any damage or repairs to furnishings, carpets, goods or property caused by the use of any equipment hired or products supplied.

6. Leather cleaning

6A. Unstable dye surfaces to leather can be caused by excessive wear, greasy soils may slowly ‘coat’ the surface of leather and at the same time disguise the erosion of the original lacquer on most leathers. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not be responsible for any colour erosion/flaking due to this existing problem, which may become evident after cleaning.
 
7. Carpet protection treatment

7A. Any protecting agents applied by Colchester Carpet Cleaning are done so according to the manufacturer’s instructions. They are not designed to give 100% protection but simply to assist in repelling moisture for a short period of time.

7B. There is no guarantee that they will stop any liquid from penetrating fibres, and is applied with the consent of the client knowing this fact.

7C. All protectors will wear out and lose their effectiveness and this must be taken into consideration when requesting it. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will not accept any responsibility for the product in what it can do and its limitations.

8. Payment

8A. Payment is due immediately after works have been completed or upon delivery of hire machines either by credit/debit card or cash.

8B. For commercial clients with an authorised credit account 21 day terms are applicable.

8C. Commercial clients, failure to pay on time will result in a late payment surcharge of 10% of original invoiced price.

8D. All costs incurred by the company in the pursuit of late payment will be added to the outstanding amount owed.

8E. We charge a minimum of £45 for all cleaning tasks per visit.

9. Complaints

9A. Colchester Carpet Cleaning requires to be notified in writing of any complaint within 7 days after completion of the cleaning work or hire period.

9B. No claims will be acceptable after this time.

9C. If the Client is dissatisfied with the work, a cleaner must be allowed to return and re-do the task at no extra charge to the client.

9D. Colchester Carpet Cleaning will reimburse the client for any accidental damages caused by an operative working on behalf of Colchester Carpet Cleaning.

9E. The client accepts and understands that poor service, breakage/damage or theft must be reported within 7 days from the date the works were carried out.
